Awareness on CDP Cluster Development programme under National Handloom Development programme.

          In a bid to catalyze grassroots development and foster a culture of self-reliance, an awareness program on the Cluster Development Programme (CDP) under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) was organized in connection with the implementation of the PAOMATA CDP. Hosted by the Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans, the event took place on Sunday, the 30th of October 2022, at the serene setting of Lali Community Hall in Lali Village, Tadubi Senapati District, commencing at 2 pm.

          The event attracted a diverse array of stakeholders, each contributing to the collective vision of socio-economic empowerment and sustainable growth. Dr. L Angshim Dangshawa (IAS), the esteemed Sub Divisional Officer of Paomata, Senapati district, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, symbolizing the government’s commitment to grassroots development and community engagement.

          Smt. A Ronika Devi, President of AWAS (All Women’s Association Senapati), adorned the role of the President, bringing to the forefront the voices and aspirations of women artisans and entrepreneurs. Her presence underscored the pivotal role of women in driving inclusive development and nurturing local economies.

         Joining the ranks of dignitaries were the Guests of Honour, each bringing their unique expertise and insights to the table. Shri Hara Kanta Baro, Deputy Director and Head of Office at the Weavers’ Service Centre (WSC), Porompat, Imphal East, shared his valuable perspectives on capacity-building and skill enhancement within the handloom sector. Ks John Tk, the Project Manager of District Handlooms and Textiles, Senapati District, represented the government’s commitment to grassroots initiatives and community-driven development.

         Shri Y. Shantkumar Singh, the Officer-in-charge of Marketing at the National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd. (NHDC), Imphal, lent his expertise on market linkages and value chain integration, emphasizing the importance of market-driven approaches in sustaining livelihoods and promoting entrepreneurship.

          Throughout the program, participants were enlightened on the intricacies of the Cluster Development Programme, which seeks to empower local communities through collective action and shared resources. Discussions revolved around capacity-building initiatives, market linkages, access to finance, and technological interventions aimed at enhancing productivity and competitiveness.

          As the event drew to a close, the air was imbued with a sense of optimism and renewed purpose.
